My question is, when i get the question “why are you in a wheelchair?” and i say “i was born with Spina Bifida” “what is that?” my usual response is something like “i was basically born with a hole in my back/spine” i know thats not completely accurate but i am trying to say it in lammons terms and as short and sweet and to the point as possible. What is a better way to answer that question more accuritly without going into a 20 minute lecture on it?

I tell people the same basic thing when they ask about my son. People have alot of questions that I don’t really have a definite answer to. They ask if he’ll ever walk, we’re working on that, but he won’t be able to walk long distances. He’ll use a wheelchair out in public to get around.

You know the episode where the wheelchair basketball team comes the the tipton?
I don’t get the part when Cody asks “So Darrel how did you end up in your wheelchair?” and he answers “I’m in a wheelchair? Why didnt anyone tell me?”

The idea was that the blindness was only temporary; the Japanese man was the first person in the movie shown losing his sight, so him getting his sight back means eventually everyone in the story will be able to see again.
Julianne Moore’s character was looking up into the white sky just to get an idea of what everyone else was feeling, since she was the only person immune. When she looked back down at the city, her sight was still fine.

Question by xxMemoriesxx: “On His Blindness” By John Milton – Question Help Please?
Here is the poem:
When I consider how my light is spent
E’re half my days, in this dark world and wide,
And that one Talent which is death to hide,
Lodg’d with me useless, though my Soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account, least he returning chide,
Doth God exact day-labour, light deny’d,
I fondly ask; But patience to prevent
That murmur, soon replies, God doth not need
Either man’s work or his own gifts, who best
Bear his milde yoak, they serve him best, his State
Is Kingly. Thousands at his bidding speed
And post o’re Land and Ocean without rest:
They also serve who only stand and waite.
With close reference to the sonnet, how does John Milton express his feelings when faced with disaster?
Thanks

He rationalises them and successfully seeks solace and understanding of them through his Christian faith, telling himself that this life and the things of it are of no consequence in the larger scheme of God’s plan. All that matters in this life is seeking out God, understanding his ways and his plans. For Milton it meant accepting the blindness and seeing with his inner eyes and understanding that above all things God wants humble, willing hearts, people who look to him and rely on him for their strength and ability to cope a life with hardships and struggles.
I love the last line, “They also serve that only stand and wait.” The fact that Milton was blind and to all intents and purposes in his time and world as useless, but he came to understand that the fact that his heart and mind and soul were willing to serve was enough for God, just as good and commendable (and in fact better) than the acts of doing and active service that others were able to do.

Question by Bus man: I have a question about applying for long term disability?
My father has been on disability for almost 6 months for depression. Short term disability benefits end after 6 months and he now has to apply for long term disability with another insurance provided through his company. This longterm disability insurer has sent out a 20 page application with all kinds of different questions that it looks like are designed to ensure that he is denied this claim. Some of the questions ask things like: “Please provide us with a brief description of your present condition. Describe any physical and/or psychiatiric/psychological limitations related to your return to work”, and “Provide us with a detailed description of your daily routine” and “What is your present height?” and “Are you right or left handed?” and “When do you expect to return to your last job/occupation either on a full-time or part-time basis? Please explain in detail.” and “Do you feel you could return to your job/occupation if accomodations were made? If so, please describe your accommodation needs”
My dads depression is so severe, that I feel that it’s wrong to try to make him answer these questions as a precondition of getting approved for longterm disability. “I” wouldn’t even know how to best answer some of those questions and I don’t have a mental illness. It seems to me that his psychiatrist would be better suited to answer alot of these questions. I’m sure my dad has NO idea what accomodations his employer could make to have him come back to work right now!
I feel like if I let my dad fill this form out that he’ll totally drop the ball and not answer these questions as good and thouroughly as they seem to want them to be answered.
I don’t know what to do. My father IS incompasited with this depression and he CAN’T work. He needs this disability money or he will not even be able to pay his utilitys and keep a roof over his head. It kills me to see him like this. I would have never thought that depression was a REAL disease until I saw it 1st hand like this.
I guess my question is, should I just let him fill this paper work out on his own like they seem to want? Or kind of help him and tell him what to write as a response to each question?

Question by Kelli M: What is a good Oral Presentation question topic? PLEASE HELP!?
Okay so for my college english class our assignment is to pick a topic that we can ask a question..such as “What causes earthquakes?” or “What is down syndrome?” and elaborate on the answer through a 4-7 minute oral presentation. Public speaking is my WEAKNESS! I really need a basic topic and i’m freaking out so much that I just can’t seem to think of one.. basically the topic has to be informative, not persuasive or controversial. Factual, rather than opinionated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Answer by Guy Incognito
“What is fellatio?” would make an excellent 4-7 minute oral presentation.
