Question by Mike C: what is “wheelchair” in tagalog/Filipino?(and please, don’t say “silyang di-gulong” or “upuang de gulong”)?
“silyang de-gulong” or “upuang de-gulong” are more akin to wheeled computer chairs than wheelchairs, as in those used by differently-abled people.

Best answer:

Answer by Erik Van Thienen
“There is no word for “wheelchair” as such, therefore you’d have to break it down into use. Thus “silya para di-makalakad” or “chair for one who can’t walk” is how you’d call it.”

Question by maybell: please tell me the theme of the poem “On His Blindness” by Jonh Milton?

Best answer:

Answer by rustskipper
Hey Maybell,

In this sonnet, the speaker meditates on the fact that he has become blind (Milton himself was blind when he wrote this). He expresses his frustration at being prevented by his disability from serving God as well as he desires to. He is answered by “Patience,” who tells him that God has many who hurry to do his bidding, and does not really need man’s work. Rather, what is valued is the ability to bear God’s “mild yoke,” to tolerate whatever God asks faithfully and without complaint. As the famous last line sums it up, “They also serve who only stand and wait.”

Question by moi: How do i get her to not be so clingy to me without mean? help please!?
there’s this girl (i’ll call her X) who’s in her freshman year of high school and i am in my senior year. our lockers happened to be right beside each other (because of alphabetical order) so i would just say hi to her and stuff. sometimes we would talk for a few minutes and one time she told me that she was sad because no one from her elementary/middle school that came to our high school wanted to hang out with her anymore. she claimed it was because of her “physical disability”; her face is more elongated than an average person’s face, thus, her facial features are proportionately different. she’s a really nice girl and i felt bad so at that time, so i gave her some advice.

well X somehow found me on facebook so i accepted her friend request. she asked me if we could hang out sometime after school, and i said yes….i mean a few times at the mall or coffee shop won’t hurt, right? besides that, all of my classes are on the third floor this year and having them on the 2nd floor is an inconvenience. since you can’t move without notifying the principal(s), i asked the vice principal for permission to move upstairs into an empty locker near my friend’s…i moved up yesterday. all of a sudden, today X came up to me at the end of school and told me that she moved lockers too! i asked her why and she said so that she was closer to me.

today she gave me a card to thank me for the advice that i gave her and said that i made a difference in her life. i love it and it was really sweet of her to do that. the thing is, is that i think she’s going a bit too far. she told me she made new friends a couple of days ago and then today, she told me that i am really the only friend she has. i don’t mind being friends with her, but i am graduating this year and if she keeps hanging around me, then when i am gone, she won’t have anyone. she also keeps on asking what lunch i have next term…..i could tell she was trying to ask me if she could sit with me but didn’t want to come out with it. so again, i felt bad and said yes.

what should i do? like, how do i get her to not be so clingy but not hurt her feelings? i don’t mind hanging out with her, but sometimes i just want to hang out with my friends and talk about whatever is going on within our group of friends without having to worry if we’re ignoring her. i know it’s hard for her but still…
thanks! :)

do you know any other frreshmen? if so, introduce her to them and try to make her hang out with them. if that doesnt work next time she asks you to hang out say, sorry, but i already have plans with my other friends, i’m sure so-and-so would love to have plans with you, why don’t you ask them? i’m sure she will be okay as long as you do it in a nice way, and you seem like a very nice and considerate person, so that shouldn’t be too hard!
Good luck!
xoxo, Marlee (:

“Let me get you a wheelchair”

Answer by Andrés
You can say.
If it’s not formal. TÚ -> too informal
El doctor necesitará revisar tus ojos y los indicadores de tu corazón.
Déjame ir a buscarte las muletas.
Déjame ir a buscarte una silla de ruedas.

If it’s formal and the person you’re talking to is a senior or someone who deserves respect you must use the form of the pronoun USTED.

El doctor necesitará revisar sus ojos y los indicadores de su corazón.
Déjeme ir a buscarle las muletas.
Déjeme ir a buscarle una silla de ruedas.

Hope it helps.

Bye!

Question by xxMemoriesxx: “On His Blindness” By John Milton – Question Help Please?
Here is the poem:
When I consider how my light is spent
E’re half my days, in this dark world and wide,
And that one Talent which is death to hide,
Lodg’d with me useless, though my Soul more bent
To serve therewith my Maker, and present
My true account, least he returning chide,
Doth God exact day-labour, light deny’d,
I fondly ask; But patience to prevent
That murmur, soon replies, God doth not need
Either man’s work or his own gifts, who best
Bear his milde yoak, they serve him best, his State
Is Kingly. Thousands at his bidding speed
And post o’re Land and Ocean without rest:
They also serve who only stand and waite.

With close reference to the sonnet, how does John Milton express his feelings when faced with disaster?

Thanks :)

Answer by cloudisland
He rationalises them and successfully seeks solace and understanding of them through his Christian faith, telling himself that this life and the things of it are of no consequence in the larger scheme of God’s plan. All that matters in this life is seeking out God, understanding his ways and his plans. For Milton it meant accepting the blindness and seeing with his inner eyes and understanding that above all things God wants humble, willing hearts, people who look to him and rely on him for their strength and ability to cope a life with hardships and struggles.

I love the last line, “They also serve that only stand and wait.” The fact that Milton was blind and to all intents and purposes in his time and world as useless, but he came to understand that the fact that his heart and mind and soul were willing to serve was enough for God, just as good and commendable (and in fact better) than the acts of doing and active service that others were able to do.

Question by gniknus: Please! This is driving me buggy!!! In the movie, Notting Hill…?
In the scene, William Thacker is in the lobby of the Savoy trying to pass himself off as a writer for Blockbuster Video’s in-house magazine. He’s trying to get into the press room to see Anna Scott, but the man behind the desk won’t let him in until William’s friend in a wheelchair enters and says “I’m writing an article on how hotels treat people in wheelchairs”. So the guy points to the press room and says somethings like “go ahead”, then Will’s sister yells something. It sounds like she’s saying “RAH-TOO”. Does anybody know what she’s really saying??? I’ve seen that movie about a hundred times and I still can’t figure it out!!
It’s not “run” even though that’s what the script says. It definately has 2 syllables.

Question by Kelli M: What is a good Oral Presentation question topic? PLEASE HELP!?
Okay so for my college english class our assignment is to pick a topic that we can ask a question..such as “What causes earthquakes?” or “What is down syndrome?” and elaborate on the answer through a 4-7 minute oral presentation. Public speaking is my WEAKNESS! I really need a basic topic and i’m freaking out so much that I just can’t seem to think of one.. basically the topic has to be informative, not persuasive or controversial. Factual, rather than opinionated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

“What is fellatio?” would make an excellent 4-7 minute oral presentation.
