Question by shadowdarkness22: does anyone know what “sun-downing syndrome” is?
Best answer:
Answer by bad cook
Usually that refers to a condition where a person becomes confused at night. Such as when a person suffers from a form of dementia, they can often keep it together for only so long during the day. At night, when there is less stimulation to keep them alert, or they become fatigued, they just can’t control their symptoms as well. This is when they may become agitated or combative.

Question by Colleen S: My dog has mini seizures. If you know dogs, or “canine stress syndrome” formerly malignant hyperthermia. HELP?
I have a 3 year old mutt. He definitely has Lab in him, I suspect mixed with some sort of hound. He’s been healthy all his life with no major health problems. About 8 months ago he got into some very old trash. He then went into a fit about 4 hours later out of a dead sleep. He ran to a safe spot, laid down and shook. His pupils were dialated, he was panting heavily and shaking violently. He stayed at the vets for about 3 days and they came up with, “endotoxin”. They said the old food he ate put his system into shock. After a few days at the vet’s he came home and was fine until about 3 months ago. He all of a sudden seemed to lose his legs. He slowly crouched down and refused to get up. I tried to “help” him up but he just had no legs under him. He was shaking and i noticed his pupils were dialated. He was completely concious and has been through each of these episodes and doesnt show pain or anything. Last night he had an episode identical to the second time it happened. These last about 10 minutes, and he eventually slows shaking, and his eyes go back to normal and i help him up and kind of hold him there and in a few minutes he’d back to normal. Sort of sounds like CSS if you’ve heard of it, except it isn’t brought on by any great stress to speak of, except i thought maybe an intense dream or something. I dont know if the first episode is related to the others though. I dont have the money to get the biopsy tests to find out if this is what it is, and i really love my dog. I read something about calcium supplements and eliminating table food and stress. If you have any experience please please help.

Question by SydneyB: You know what grinds my gears…(its not something stupid)?
That every one is labeling people! I mean seriously! At school your a nerd, or your popular, or your a slut! And then when you move up to having you home your either middle class, poor, or rich. And then there’s all these medical labels; depressed, mentally retarded, you have “physical disabilities”. Why can’t we all just be. What have you been labeled? And what do YOU think about it? what grinds your gears?
Best answer:
Answer by lurkergrl
People like to make labels, they always have. From the days of ‘I man you woman’ to the ‘Hypochondriac, or the bi-polar, or even the ‘mentally unstable’.
It’s a form of organization in cultures. I agree completely, it sucks, and it’s an incorrect biased to be associated directly upon a label that you were branded with. However, the people that are ‘branded’ or ‘labelled’ often times refer to themselves and take comfort in the organizational labels they fall under. More often though, the label is a hinderance or an incorrect assumption. Definately someting to get your gears grinded about.
My gear grinding is people who make assumptions. Not always based on labels, but that is definatley part of it. I cannot understand how people simply believe that they know everything, if they’ve decided it, then it must be so. I wonder what it takes to be so one sided. The sad part is, in most cases a brief explanation has them looking like a complete ass, and they continue on and again to do the exact same thing. I believe in 2 modes, ass mode and non ass mode. Non ass mode – shutup if you don’t know what your talking about. I guarantee if you do this, you will suceed fabulously in this mode. Ass mode – you know exactly what your speaking about and can be an ass to anyone who argues and has no sources for backup. This second mode is only available to the individuals who are completley versed on the subject and well researched. You must be able to state your forms of research as well for backup purposes.

Question by Dennis Hughes: Do you know what stereotypes do non-disabled (able-minded) people have?
Here’s a few things that they have:
1. Too Superior over the weak-minded.
2. Not so “Good human people”.
3. Highly Judgemental – They are quick to Judge on a person (not just race, sex, sexual orientation, age, disabilty (physicial) or etc), but (mental) disability, which is even more worst than the ones that I mentioned.
4. Unfriendly (not just to anything that is part of the normal culture, but people with mental disabilites)
5. Ungood.
6. Unnecessarily Mean (not just to anything that is part of the normal culture, but people with mental disabilites)
7. Evil
8. Have absolutley no regard (not just for anything that is part of the normal culture, but people with mental disabilites (the different))
9. Making fun of others just to make themselves feel better and without having a clue of doing it (not just anything that is part of the normal culture, but people with mental disabilites, which is more worst than than age, race, sexual orientation, physical disabiltiy or etc.)
10. Taking advantage of the mentally disabled.
11. Drawing attention to a mentally disabled person.
12. Staring at a mentally disabled person.
13. Making a mentally disabled person to do errands, but don’t really don’t feel like it (if it’s a person with mild or borderline disability)
14. Forcing a mentally disabled person do something for somebody (able-minded) , but really don’t feel like it (if it’s a person with mild or borderline disability)
15. Too overprotective.
16. Treating a mentally disabled person like a slave.
17. Always picking mentally disabled people for easy targets
18. They often say some ironic negative random things to a mentally disabled person (it happen to me, true story)
I believe you have one of these

Question by edoedo: Why do hearing people feel dumb if they don’t know Sign Language?
I don’t mean to be rude but everytime when they write down and said ‘I feel stupid that I don’t know Sign Language” or ” I am stupid because I don’t know Sign Language” .
So, my question is why do they or why do some they think they are stupid? Honest, I don’t think they are stupid and it is not their language but why do they think they are stupid?
I am asking this to all hearing people because I am Deaf.
To the mom.123: I am not calling anyone stupid but the question is why do they think they are? I don’t think they are stupid.
To the mom123: Understood.
Best answer:
Answer by the mom.123
I don’t think I am stupid but I have a friend that is deaf and I am learning sign language so that I can talk to him. I am taking out dvd’s from the library to learn sign language. I am having fun learning. it is always great to learn a different language. my friend is also helping me learn. within the month, I have learned so many words. and I can not wait to learn more each day. I know you where not calling anyone stupid. sometimes people don’t know how to act around someone who is deaf. but you should not treat them any different then a hearing person.
What do you think? Answer below!
