Question by ❶•☆•xXx•☆— BOMB ♥ SHELL☆•xXx•☆•❶: Do you believe this is a true a way of looking at it as there is Suit: Sanctuary policy a factor in 3 killing?
The family of a father and two sons slain last year in San Francisco filed a lawsuit Friday, blaming the city’s sanctuary policy for illegally shielding the suspected gunman from earlier deportation despite his record of “extreme violence.”The suit – lodged in San Francisco Superior Court – asserts that the city sanctuary policy was a “substantial factor” in the June 22, 2008, slayings of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. The city attorney’s office declined to comment.
Lawyers for Bologna’s wife and his two surviving children assert in the suit that the alleged gunman, Edwin Ramos, had at least two prior juvenile offenses and was shielded from deportation under the city’s sanctuary policy.
Ramos is charged with murder and is awaiting a preliminary hearing. One of his attorneys has said he is not a gang member and is not guilty in the case.
The city’s policy, the suit says, kept police from notifying immigration officials and, thus, was a “substantial factor” in the slayings. The suit notes that city officials knew that Ramos was known for his “extreme violence” – a member of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang – yet did not report him to federal officials under “official and unofficial policies”‘ that afforded him sanctuary.
Mike Kelly, an attorney who filed the suit, said it will be up to a court to decide whether the city is liable in this instance.
“The key thing is how a judge decides whether or not there is an obligation of the city and officials to enact federal law,” he said.
Mayor Gavin Newsom, in a statement, did not address the lawsuit. “I am deeply sympathetic to the Bologna family’s devastating loss,” the statement said. “A terrible crime was committed and my heart goes out to the family.”

as someone who has been directly effected by illegal immigrants and i also live in phoenix, i have to say yes. we have a mayor who “acts” like he’s concerned about it, but shows no action-except for tying our sheriff joe arpaio’s arms behind his back when he goes after illegals.
yes, this is a huge factor. and it’s getting bigger everyday. the argument for this is that americans kill people thru violence, car accidents etc. but to me, that’s not a good enough argument. tell that to the lady who lost her husband and two sons. which would have not happened had this guy not been here to begin with.
i was in a major accident with my 5 year old in the car. the man who hit me was an illegal. he was deported before and came back over. he had 6 id’s…none of them his. he hit my car causing me to hit a concrete wall and flip. the police assumed there was fatalities. only by the grace of God we walked away. he fled the scene of course, but was followed by a witness where he made a citizen’s arrest.
if the govt. allowed our police to follow the laws-this would not happen. illegals that were kicked out of this country would not be able to continually come back. but because the govt. wants to pick and choose what laws they want to be followed things like this are going to happen.
we are beginning to go after employers that hire illegals, but what about our officials who give them safe haven? nothing happens to them. they are breaking our laws and should be charged with aiding crimes like this.

Question by yanchung50: Elderly – Memory Loss?
Hi Everybody,
I need your help! I’m a student of Emily Carr University of Art and Design. We’re working on a project that focuses on interface design/interface redesign for a monitoring and/or other assistive device for the elderly that will support independent living by taking into consideration the changing physical, psychological and/or social concerns related to aging.
For my group, we’re going to work on the “memory loss” topic cause we think nowadays many elderly are having this problem even my own grandpa is losing his memory too. However, just having interview with one person is not enough for the research; therefore, I’m asking your help to answer the questions below. **All questions are based on the topic — Memory Loss** If any of you have a family member that has the same problem as my grandpa please give me some information. THANKS A LOT!!
1)How old is he/she?
2)Was he/she educated?
3)When did he/she starts losing his/her memory?
4)Did any big things happened due to this problem? (Please tell the story instead of answering yes/no. We want to hear from you and come up with a good design. thanks)
5)What does he/she usually do?
6)How do you as a family member feel this problem? (Please express your feeling with details instead of answering with one word. thanks a lot)
7)Did you and your other family member do anything to help the elder? If yes, what did you do for the help?
8)Does the elder need to always check with the doctor? Does the doctor assign him/her any medicine?
9)Does the elder familiar with electronics?
So far these are the questions that we just came up of; there might have more to talk about and please feel free to add anything to help us fulfill the project. I’m really appreciated for your help. Once again, thanks a lot.

I am unable to help in the way you ask. It seems to me that you may well get better results from contacting the various Groups, for the diseases mentioned below. For example: Google: “groups, alzheimer’s”, and also check out the Groups at www.myspace.com, Yahoo, & Google.
Then Google: “memory loss; elderly; groups”. See sections 29 – 30, 41, 45, & 49, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on Alzheimer’s, memory improvement, Parkinsons, & dementia.
Many elderly people, even if not technophobic, may still have considerable difficulty learning to interface with unfamiliar technology. Make controls large, simple to operate (arthritis is common) and with large print, and good contrast.

Question by Markarian: Why would a young person join the Army or Marines over the other branches?
As a 24 year old male, I often wonder why so many of my contemporaries sign up for the Army or Marines, which, in this war, virtually assures you indefinite combat duty. I have heard the explanation that the reason so many people are still joining the military (despite the mounting casualties and unending deployment) is because they need the money. Now I don’t know whether that’s true or not, but even so, it confuses me.
But if someone is looking into the military as a career move, why not the Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard? I’m sure they all pay the same, and I don’t think they deploy Sailors or Airmen into ground combat duty.
Are there really that many of my generation who WANT to go to Iraq and still believe in the war, even though 2/3 of the country doesn’t anymore? And even if they did, they are not deterred by the “stop-loss” program and other measures like it?
Are the other branches purposefully more selective? Or do they join the Marines and Army for the danger or thrill?

My daddy was in the navy. He always said, “Why walk when you can ride”. In the Viet Nam war, the army and the marines would take the F*ck ups that couldn’t get into any other branch.

You feel angry but life isn’t fair and you got a shit hand for a few years there. Yes it does suck. Counsel ling can really help, that is awful lot to deal with. What about talking to your Dad? He may be feeling the same way you do. I know what it is like to lose family, my husband and I lost his grandmother, aunt and two cousins in the same car wreck 5 years ago. Time does heal, but it is hard to start the process of moving on. Good luck and hang in there!

Question by honey(*_*): How/What should I write to someone politely, whose family member died, and you’re not really close to them?
A family-member of a real estate man (who works between me and the homeowner) had died recently. I contact him occasionally when there’s a problem with the house. I recently learned bout the family member’s death through e-mail, after I inquired how that family member was doing, because he was gone to visit that person in London several months ago.
How/What should I write to the real estate man in a polite way? We keep in touch just when there’s a problem, so we’re not in a very-friendly relationship. But at the same time, it’s not so up-tight either…would “I’m sorry to hear about your loss.” be alright? Asking if they need any help seems unnecessary because he’s not my friend…
Do you know of any simple and polite ways to say when someone you don’t know too well’s family member dies? If you could give examples, I would truly appreciate it (I really don’t want to be rude or continue the relationship with ignoring the death either).

“I’m sorry for your loss” is exactly right. You can buy a card at the store and just sign it too. Dignified and not to sappy would be a good choice since this is a business friendship.

Question by Ron Jeremy: Why is it the SEC is sooooo overated and babied by the media?
All I ever hear is how the SEC is so great and there are no bad losses in conference play. BULLCRAP!!!! So called Mighty Florida lost to a mediocre Auburn team yesterday!!! I’m sure all the press will say is “oh. . it’s SEC play. . .this isn’t a bad loss”. What about Oklahoma then . . .how about their loss to Colorado? Is this just a “tough conference game as well and not a bad loss”? And what about Penn State losing to Illinois. . . . the same thing again? It’s high time the media stop babying the SEC!!! Sure Florida killed Ohio State last year but by rights they didn’t belong in that game. Urban Meyers shamless self promotion and the SEC loving press got them there. I hope Kentucky kicks the balls of the SEC this year (probably wont) just to shut everybody up. P.S. Charlie weis is a big douchebagg!

Question by Big Brodie: Are we willing to bring back the Draft to really take on all of our enemies?
We have heard all too often that our ground forces are spread too thin causing horrible policies such as “stop loss” to happen and the use of state militia units, our last line of defense, to be used. There are many that believe that Obama is too soft and we should be quick to attack those who question us. Are they willing to give up their sons and daughters to carry out their beliefs?

Question by Sals-A-Wals: If I Worked Out on Cardio Machines with my Heart Being in Cardio Section, What Will Happen if I Pump Iron?
A couple years ago, I heard in order to get tone, lean muscle you should keep your heartbeat in the “weight loss” section of a cardio machine, because if it’s in the cardio part you’ll build muscle. But recently I read that it doesn’t matter and the more intense the cardio part, the better. Women don’t have enough testerone to build muscle if they do weights.
Who is right?
Best answer:
Answer by xox_bass_player_xox
I don’t know about the weight loss section of a cardio machine but I can tell you about building muscle. Women can and will build muscle from working out. However, because of the lack of testosterone women can not become overly muscular without some help. I guess the thing you want to hear is that you will not look like a muscle head from working out on a treadmill or stairmaster.
