Issue by Groatsy: How disabled do you have to be to compete in the paralympics?
I am deaf in one ear, and wear a hearing assist to right this. Would I be capable to compete in the paralympics if I experimented with?
I cant locate any guidelines of entry wherever…

The Nationwide Paralympic Committee listing…just select the country you are from and phone the make contact with info detailed. They should be ready to assist you with your query.

It is not as simple as “I want to compete in the Paralympics” and you will get in. This is as elite as the Olympics and you have to be top of your sport.
The first thing you will need to d is ask yourself – what sport are you going to participate in? Then check with the peak body of that sport as to how the selection process to compete (for that sport) in the Paralympics.
After that – practice and compete hard for the next eight years and become good at the sport.
However, your description of your deafness sounds like (no pun intended) you might not be classified as “disabling” enough to be considered a disabled athlete.
But… enquire – doesn’t hurt to look into it.
You have to have voted for George W. Bush to truly be disabled enough for the Paralympics.
