Question by Double-D: Turrets Syndrome at 25?
For the last 2 weeks I’ve been having this need to shake (kinda twitch-like) my left foot when I sit down. I tend to shake my foot every 10 – 30 seconds. And the more I think about it the worse it gets (today i seem to shake my foot every 4 seconds) It reminds me of what I’ve heard about a Turrets Syndrome “tic.” But what confuses me is the fact that I’m fine when I stand and the fact that this just recently started.

I know to be diagnosed the issue needs to exist for at least 12 months but if this continues do you think it could be Turrets?

Probably not–sounds more like restless leg syndrome to me.

Question by Jack’s Mom: What is with the Bush & Obama derangement syndrome?
I am an independent. Didn’t care for many Bush policies, and (for many of the same reasons) I don’t like Obama’s policies. Yet every time I read opinions (here and elsewhere) I run into what I call the “derangement syndrome”. This affects both liberals and republicans. Liberals have Bush derangement syndrome and republicans have Obama derangement syndrome. I understand not liking either of their policies, but the blind hatred and disregard for facts (ON BOTH SIDES) makes me wonder about the American public. Don’t you realize that when members of the government (both sides) see this blind partisan hatred online it merely reinforces their belief that Americans are stupid and that they can continue to sell us all down the river to their special interest groups without fear of the consequences? My point – wake up guys – there is corruption on both sides. Blind allegiance to a party is foolish and allows the government to get away with policies that hurt us all.

Brilliant!

I guess we have to blame the media. What passes for news these days is nothing more than partisan drivel and the actors on the air rarely even try to hide their allegiance.

Most of us with an IQ higher than our waistband have seen through this. Now with Pelosi and Obama’s job performance more and more are waking up daily.

Question by AmadnaS: Keeping your contact lens too long?
I never take my contact lens out, because I hate wearing glasses. I wear them 24/7. But now that i heard things like “blindness”. Will that really happen?

Best answer:

Answer by Sophia T
Keeping your contacts in all the time is the worst thing you can do for your eye. I don’t know how long you have had your contacts– but by the sound of it it looks like when you do take your contacts out.. your eye site is going to be a whole lot worse then it was when you first put your contacts in.
There are very few cases that people have actually gone blind from wearing contacts (this was when they were first invented) the contact would slide under one’s eye and hit their cornea, which caused them to go blind. Although wearing your contacts all the time will not make you go blind, it will damage your eye severely and put welts in your eyes from the contact being there so long. Your eye is a part of your body, and your body needs to breath.. just like you do. So take your contacts out, its the best thing to do and remember to put them in solution and also wash your hands before your take them out and put them in!

Question by LittleRoo: Baby Sign??
This may be a trendy thing…i’m not sure (I’m pregnant with my first) but I have been seeing a lot of books and videos about teaching and using “baby sign language” and that babies can communicate using the signs before they can speak…I’m not saying that I would rather my baby sign instead of speak…but why not encourage both?

What are your thoughts on this? To people that have tried, does it work? Which video/book did you use (Baby Einstein is coming out with one March 13 I believe). Does anyone really dislike the baby sign idea? Or found that it did NOT work with their child?

Best answer:

Answer by yetti
I think as long as you encourage both….do not puch talking less….it is a good thing…..it will allow communication sooner….but I don’t know….I have never used it…..

Question by DreamSitar: How can I control my anger?
I have a problem with certain types of people. I have a serious intolerance for people who judge me on my surface appearance, whatever it is, being overweight, being white, being tall, having facial piercings, wearing tattered clothes, that I chose a tattoo wedding ring instead of gold ring that you can lose or take off… and then there’s bums. I have an abject hatred for bums. People who ask me, who’s broke 90% of the time to give them something just because I’m sitting at the bus stop smoking a cigarette, usually around that time I have very few left, and they see me smoke, they ask for one, and if I give them one, they keep walking, not even a thank you, and I know it now, same attitude coming from everyone who walks up and asks me for a handout. I went from being a little white liar and saying “no sorry that’s my last one, I’d give you one if I could” to saying “No, I’m sorry”
to “No I don’t have any to give you” then to “What do I look like, a handout service, F&^K off!” and then I went back to “No” and if they beg more, I scream at them to high heaven. I try not to be so hateful of needy greedy people, lazy bums who’re much more physically capable to do hard labor than me, who lives on social security, unable to work regular gainful employment in any physical labor due to my injuries serving this country. I see these lazy jerks who don’t have to take medicine just so they can walk, don’t have to take anything to be pain free, they can work, what the hell are they asking me who’s borderline needing crutches all the time, if I can give them some of the very little amount of money I have… They walk up to me in way nicer clothes than me, I saw this tall black guy walk up to me with I sh!t you not, a heavy gold chain, diamond rings, and a very ornate diamond encrusted watch… this guy was walking up to me with a pathetic look on his face saying he doesn’t have any money, can I spare some change… I don’t have money like what that jackass spends on jewelry! What the hell is he asking me for money for? Lazy jerk! So how, do I control myself from just one day going ape on one of these jackasses, and beating the holy living piss out of one of these bums? How do I do that, when every day I get asked when I step outside my house, at least 5 times for money on the way to the store. How to I keep myself from beating the holy living snot out of one of these jerks? And how do I tolerate the stupid people who judge me on my character when they don’t even know who I am? How do I stop myself from getting angry at people who’re clearly showing disregard for me in one way or an other by their snotty attitudes toward me, a stranger to them, how do I keep myself from screaming at people who judge me before they even know my name? How do I keep myself from snapping when the next person makes a snide homophobic remark about my lip piercing, or asks me for a handout? My wife isn’t always there with me, and she can’t keep me from kicking the snot out of someone all the time, I worry about myself, I see how much further I’m going when people are rude to me, I actually challenged a bus driver to fight me the other day because he was rude to me, stepped in on my conversation with my wife, stopped the bus to ask me a rude question that had nothing to do with my conversation “Were you the one who was having the rude conversation about a person in the wheelchair?” and I knew what he was referring to, I said “Sometimes I think I need to strap my lazy mom to a wheelchair and take her to the park or something so she can get some sun!’ but that was none of that jerk’s business, and he stood over me in a macho threatening manner, and boy he’s lucky my wife was there, I’d have whooped him upside the head with my hardest fist. I was lucky too because that’s a federal offense to strike a bus driver. They’re federally protected. But he really erked me bad. I don’t like being cornered, and he thought in his head I was talking crap about disabled people, no, I was in a wheelchair thank you, last person in the world who needs to give me sensitivity training is you, mr bus driver. God I wished I thought to say that instead of screaming my head off and jumping off the bus in a rage, pretty much embarrassing my wife and myself with the vile things I screamed at that jackass… Therapy has been nothing but a large bitch fest for me, going to anger management classes were entertaining but no help, smoking copious amounts of pot helps, but that gets expensive, and it’s not always available. I’m highly allergic to many antipsychotic medicines, and that has proven to be harmful to my body in other ways than making me sick. I tried taking herbal supplements like passionflower teas and stuff like that, helps a bit, but that also is expensive, plus it leaves a nasty aftertaste that you don’t always wanna have to tolerate. I just want to learn a pattern of thinking that helps me react peacefully, not lashing out at those who piss me off. Any advice

Hey,

Just look at it like this, you and everyone you have every known or loved is going to die. The bums on the street and the roses at their feet will all rot together. Everything you and I could ever possibly conceive is only temporary. Therefore, if you are able to fully come to that realization then you will understand that being mad is so absolutely insignificant. The best course of action is to do what pleases you in the time being because thats all you have.
