Question by Danger: Have you ever made a religious person understand they’re narrow minded?
So I finally managed to explain to a religious person that their believes are narrow minded.
It was a 3 hour discussion after she called me narrow minded, and I had to use several examples not related to her believes or she wouldn’t listed to it.
It was just really hard to make her understand the parallel between the examples I was giving and her believes.

I eventually had to sink to the level of “Imagine someone have been fed stories about fish people in secret societies…… then they see someone with Down’s syndrome”
And I’m pretty ashamed of it, but she FINALLY got it.
Wallace yes you are narrow minded for assuming English is everyone’s primary language.
Damn I’m getting good at this.
Hope this helps

Stop attacking belief systems that you don’t agree with. There are many different belief systems that try to answer the great question. Some may be better in their individual approach. Regardless they are an attempt to be an answer for mankind. It is time for each of us to stop faulting everyone else and look at our own imperfections to try and solve that which is keeping us from achieving our own individual sense of moral accomplishment. This is for all mankind of all religions, and non-religious. At some point you must stop hiding behind justifications, apathy and titles and work hard on yourself to remove the impurities of your own individual spirit. Only then will you be closer to this being we can only assume to be God.

  1. romans 8:1 says:

Yes, I am narrow minded. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven.

  2. The Least of Jesus' Brothers says:

narrow minded people are, by defintion, resistant to accepting new views, including the view that they are narrow minded.

I have never, to my knowledge, succeeded in demonstrating such a thing to such a person. I have unfortunately spent much more than 3 hours trying.

I believe they say that is the definition of insanity…so it appears I am insane.

  3. Johnny Boy says:

3 hours ey? You know how much stuff you could have done in 3 hours? But good for you, you at least made the diffenrence in this moron’s life.

  4. Wallace C says:

Call me narrow minded if you would like. But at least i understand the concepts of proper grammar.

  5. shahidameen says:

Mr. Danger, aren’t you in danger of being narrow minded?

  6. Neil says:

Have you not understood how narrow minded you are! Not allowing others to believe what they feel is the truth. Who gave you the monopoly on truth. Who made you to be correct in what you believe? At least we have had experiences with the living God and have faith in him. What do you have to stand on? Books on unproven theories.

  7. Crybaby Atheist says:

Ugh. You’re one of those people who starts sentences with the superfluous “So”.

I don’t mean to get down on you ,but what * is * it with that?

It started in our company about two years ago and now, no one can ask a question in a meeting without some dillweed starting the answer with “So”.

    “What servers should we buy?”

“So, I think we should go with the new Dells”

I swear, I want to smack the crap out of all of them.

    What was your question again??

  8. Megan Bliss says:

Sorry but this didn’t happen because we are not swayed from our beliefs with stupid statements like that. Stop attacking what you don’t understand.

you think your funny , God isn’t amused

  10. Matthew says:

Narrow minded is fine. Jesus is God and the only way into heaven. All other beliefs will lead to hell. That’s just the way it is. =)

    Matthew 7:13-14

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Honestly I usually give up after the first hour.

I commend you for your work but I’m certain that she’ll forget everything you said by tomorrow

  12. A. Thorne says:

Anyone who calls someone else narrow minded is narrow minded since they have no proof their beliefs are any more valid either except their own personal experience.

  13. T says:

And open minded is when something goes in one ear and out the other.

  14. Hidden_Markov_Model says:

i am a Christian and I have always known Christianity, and probably other religions as well, makes a people narrow-minded. Whether this comes to the belief in evolution, big bang, or whether it comes to accepting other people, it’s very easy to become judgmental and intolerant. But that doesn’t mean the action is wrong. For example, lets assume Christians are indeed correct, and that salvation only rests in Jesus Christ. Everyone would go to hell unless they follow the examples set by Christians and listen to them for once. Then would you still say Christians’ narrow mindedness is bad?

  15. Thor is a loving God Too. says:

No, they are too narrow minded to understand, lol.

  16. james h says:

Jesus said straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth to life…james the hollow earth man [hell beneath]

  17. happygael says:

Narrow minded people also include those who waste their time convincing other people that they are narrow minded

  18. ♣Jim♦ says:

I’ll be honest with you. I’ve always felt that atheists were like someone buried up to their neck in a depression they can’t see out of in a mountain of horse manure! They think the whole world is horse manure, because there’s no evidence for anything else, or so they think. They refuse to allow the idea of a better and larger world outside their little world to enter their minds. They feel it’s useless to try to extricate themselves from their little world.

    That’s narrow-minded.

Well, we are all in that situation to some extent. But some of us believe in a glorious world outside the realm of our physical senses, and we see evidence for that world! And it’s not insanity or a hallucination!

  19. Luke says:

English is not everyone’s primary language, it is most people’s primary cross-over language in the Developed World. Most major countries accommodate english readily because it is the most common language in current and recent history…..but that doesn’t mean that it’s everyone’s primary language by a long shot.

Yet I divulge: I seriously doubt that you convinced this “religious person” that she is narrow minded. They are ALL narrow minded and cannot believe anything that is outside the tiny little box that they’ve either been raised in or put themselves in due to some circumstance that made them seek out idiotic and irrational beliefs. It is mankind’s deep-seated need to believe in something higher than themselves that incessantly permeates a significant amount of people’s weak-minded mentality. In fact, that need for a “higher power” is the cause of ALL religions in history, but trying to get one of them to see that fact is a ridiculous adventure and you’ll never win with them. 3 hours is meaningless compared to the 35+ years I’ve been trying to get the religious nutcases in my own family as well as those outside my family to see that their mental, spiritual, and emotional weaknesses are what created “God.” God did not create us, We created him, period! All you have to do is go back 5000 years and beyond to find that there was no “God” as these fools see today, there were simply other “spiritual” or “religious” figures that pre-dated “God” by many millenia. It’s unfortunate that it will take a great deal of time, but mankind will eventually outgrow it’s need for something to believe in besides themselves. Why can’t we just see the truth for what it is: We are here, we are ourselves, and nothing made us that way…..it’s just the way it is, period!

  20. SpaceCowboy says:

I’m am going to assume your atheist. Based on that assumption what is your point in trying to argue with religious people over their beliefs? Why would you care? Its not like your trying to save them from anything? Their belief doesn’t affect you in anyway. The only reason why, that I can imagine, you trying to change their beliefs is that your scared your wrong, and you don’t want to go down alone. That is the only logical answer I can come up with. And, since your atheist, I am going to assume your a man of ‘logic’, so lets break down your choices here:
    ATHEIST:
You’re right- Nothing happens to you after death.
You’re wrong- You burn in hell

    CHRISTIAN:
You’re right- You go to Heaven
You’re wrong- Nothing happens to you after death.

I think we can both see the logical choice. Although the examples above are not legit reasons to believe in God, they are legit reasons to not, not believe in God. So, if you don’t believe in God, so be it, but I see no reason in why you should try and bring others down with you!
