CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Cherokee County couple is speaking out against President Obama’s plans to legalize millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally.
Their only son was killed by a man they said is an illegal immigrant.
Dustin Inman was killed nine years ago and his parents are holding a vigil Tuesday night in Acworth at his grave site at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
Each year the pain gnaws at the hearts of his parents Billy and Kathy Inman.
“There’s a hole in my heart that’ll never be healed,” said Billy Inman.
Back in 2000, a car slammed into the Inman’s family car at an intersection in Ellijay.
Dustin Inman was just 16-years-old at the time.
“It just breaks my heart. I don’t get to hug him. I keep him in my heart and my mind daily. It’s just hard,” said Billy Inman.
Kathy Inman suffered a brain injury and was hurt so badly she’s still confined to a wheelchair.
“I’m in pain every single second of the day,” said Kathy Inman.
Authorities said Gonzalo Harrell Gonzalez, the man accused of causing the wreck, is an illegal immigrant.
Gonzalez took off after being taken to the hospital that night, never to be found again.
“It’s not right,” said Billy Inman.
The Inman’s said the Obama administration’s drive to reform immigration laws is heading down the wrong path.
President Obama is expected to unveil an immigration reform package that would legalize millions of undocumented immigrants.
Supporters of the president’s plan said it’ll help keep together families who’d be split up by deportation.
But the Inman’s contend their family was ripped apart, their son’s life taken by a man they say shouldn’t have been here in the first place.
“I’ll never be a grandpa. I won’t get to go fishing or hunting with him ever again,” said Billy Inman.
The vigil for Dustin Inman starts Tuesday at 7 p.m.

That is just sad. I agree what he did was wrong, but 1 individuals horrible actions shouldnt speak for a whole group.

I feel this is morally wrong to cause so much pain and suffering to this family and the young man took off will never be found and can enjoying living life when this family is suffering everyday is not right This is crime devastated a family and they are left to live sattered lives while Gonzalo Harrell Gonzalez is walking the the streets a free man and wil not be punished for this crime. Gonzalo Harrell Gonzalez separated a family and people who stand up for illegals being separated from their families make it a Federal case but sadly none have came forward offering any comment when it is the other way around

Nine years and they have not let the dead rest not even after the capture of Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez. Somehow cbsatlanta.com either missed this information or chose not to mention it.

Mr. and Mrs. Inman serve on the board of advisers for the Dustin Inman Society and have focused the cause of their sons death on an illegal who was drunk driving which I can understand but do not agree with.
To me the cause of their sons death was a drunk driver and to limit the chances of who might be a drunk driver makes no sense to me. I think their “Society” would have had made a greater impact if they would have taken a stance against drunk drivers not just illegal drunk drivers but all drunk drivers.

That’s a very sad story! just as sad as the 9-year old little girl that was gunned down and murdered while she slept by a leader of the MINUTEMEN GROUP!. But her story hasn’t gotten any attention by the mainstream media…..so it could be worst then the story you mentioned.

Minuteman Leader Kills 9-Year-Old And Father To Finance Hate Group
This weekend, Shawna Forde, 41, leader of the Minuteman American Defense (M.A.D.) group and two of her associates were arrested in connection with the murder of a 9-year-old girl, Brisenia Flores, and her father, Raul, in Arivaca, AZ. Local police are reporting that Forde and her posse broke into the Flores home dressed as law enforcement officers looking for money and drugs to finance her border watch group with the intention of leaving no witnesses behind.

Again illegal supporters refuse to believe or admit that this boy would still be alive and his family whole IF the illegal aliens were not in the US.
Amnesty Never! Legal Status Never! If they could legally immigrate to the US they would. There are reasons they are coming illegally. Reasons other than cost (they hire coyotes all the time). Reasons other than a better life (they leave jobs to come to the US).
They deliberately buy stolen and fake ID’s and Soc Sec #’s. Felonies.
They deliberately have a baby within days or months of arriving here.
They would not qualify to enter legally so they have a child ASAP to keep from being deported.
If families like this started suing the State & Fed government for wrongful death, I bet they would find a solution to the illegal problem very quickly.
i think you may have missed the point. The fact that he is an illegal immigrant has NOTHING to do with the accident. It isn’t like only americans know how to drive, and look at how many people die to americans driving drunk.
It is sad that such an event happened, but being illegal immigrant has NOTHING to do with it. People who blame illegal immigrants over this are just looking for someone to point the finger at.
Example, take out the illegal immigrant from this story and replace it with drunk driver, and you have the same story that is printed almost every day.
It’s wrong and they need to be treated like the invading war criminals they are!
I understand that you want to highlight every pain, but you do not need to go into extensive details. Your question is enough. Obama is not advocating legalizing illegals right now. Keep in mind that Bush and the republicans tried to do it, but the people stopped it in its tracks. In order to effectively fight against this injustice, we have to know our enemy. If we just focus on Obama then the employers and politicians will continue to promote it. Pelosi, not Obama, has this as an agenda. Obama will give in to her because he is not strong enough to resist both Pelosi and La Raza. Again, we must confront all those who have allowed this great evil to happen. Illegals were here before Obama took office; therefore, this thing is much larger than him.
