Question by John: Why do handicapped people think they could always do everything a regular person could do?
Can’t they just accept the fact that some things are impossible!! First the special olympics is obviously a joke, second i keep hearing about all these blind people and stuff climbing mount everest, and all these handicapped people that keep trying to accomplish ridiculaous tasks that nobody really cares about! It like “oh cool your bling and you could skydive well whoopdeedoo! You could still do it better if you wern’t handicapped or in a wheelchair.” What are they trying to prove?

In the unlikely event that you’re serious, you couldn’t possibly look like a bigger a**hole. Congrats.

That they have a life – unlike you who has nothing better than to degrade your fellow man – Shame on you!
I agree. What pisses me off is that cripples want to pave every damned national park, even wilderness areas to make them wheelchair accessible. It’s ridiculous. They want to defile every national monument to make them wheelchair accessible. Clint Eastwood owned an old Hotel in Monterey, CA. and had to sell it because of the lawsuit threats from those crazies.
I had some freaking crazy guy demand I put an escalator in my condo so his “girl-friend” could get up the damn stairs, and I wasn’t even renting to him. They are totally audacious.
Yes, some things are impossible for handicapped people to do. Some things are impossible for me to do too and I’m not handicapped. I took care of handicapped people for more than 10 years (quads and paraplegics) and if there’s one thing I learned it’s that they can do a lot more than they give themselves credit for. The problem with being handicapped is that once they start thinking they can’t do something, they start feeling sorry for themselves and that makes the list of things they can’t do grow exponentially. Handicapped people have to be aware of their limitations, but they also have to be educated about their abilities. They can’t do things the way they used to, but there’s a lot they can do once they learn how.
First of all, I starred your question so that everyone I know could think you are as interesting as I do.
Not everyone was born with super intelligence or full use of their bodies. Knowing that, why would you wish to degrade anyone who fulfills their utmost potential in this world. So you can drive better than these persons. Let us applaud you as well. When you look at your life, are you living up to your maximum level. I can’t climb mt everest. With an injury from an auto accident, I can barely climb a flight of steps, sometimes I even need help doing that.
Please don’t knock down people for doing their best. If everyone did their best, we would have a better world.
Go climb Mount Everest with your eyes closed. Then come back and revise your question.
People are people. And people will never cease to do amazing things. Climbing Mount Everest is one. Climbing it blind is another, and I’d say more impressive. Now, for less glamorous tasks, such as competing in the Special Olympics, or just playing basketball with some volunteers. I’ve heard of some handicapped people doing better then I could, and I’ve seen some do better then I could.
They’re trying to prove that they are capable of doing much more then people like you think they can do. Can you not respect that?
It is nature of the human spirit to strive beyond our abilities, handicapped or not, and if I was handicapped I too would try to do things that are seemingly beyond my ability.
And I also think that it helps them not to be depressed or to have self-pity and not always depend on someone else to have a normal life.
( and my girlfriend thinks you’re an Ahole…I just gave you the benefit of the doubt ).
I suspect that you’ve accomplished nothing at all even moderately productive in your lifetime.
They really aren’t trying to prove anything, honestly. They have so much negativity thrown at them by society so they feel that they have to prove something. Those that aren’t handicap have olympics so why can’t those that are handicapped in some way have one as well? Instead of knocking them for living their life you should perhaps get down on your knees and thank GOD that you’re not handicapped. You have your opinion and obviously have something against the handicapped but why voice it to everyone on Yahoo? You will go straight to hell for the attitude that you have towards your fellow man.
