Question by V: Down Syndrome Blood test came out Positive?
Hello Please anybody there I need some answers ..
So im about 12 weeks pregnant and I went to my OB/GYN last week they took out blood and I received a call today from my ob/gyn saying that one of my blood test came out Positive for “Down Syndrome” I was in shocked when I heard that .. I don’t know what to do now I feel so Depress .. I will have an Anatomy Ultrasound in 2 weeks.. would they confirm me there if my baby really have Down Syndrome??

im so sorry but just know that god had a reason for giving ur baby downs and theres a reason for everything itll be okay 
u could have an abortion if your depressed but i think u should have the baby because god will guide the way home for your baby and you and dont have an abortion bc theres a reson for everything so

I know its scary but dont stress out too much for the baby’s sake. Fist the blood they took out is only letting them know that your blood carries the down syndrome gene it doesn’t mean your baby has it 100% they will do an ultra sound to check the baby’s neck down syndrome babies tend to have thicker neck lining after that if they still think that your baby might have down syndrome then they will give you an option to have them stick a big needle into your belly button and take some fluid out and that is the only way they will tell you 100% that your baby has or doesn’t have downsyndrome.
the bad thing about that test it has about 20% chance of miscarriage afterward
Much depends on what kind of test you had. If it was an amniocentesis or a chorionic villus test, then it’s already confirmed. If it was just the quad marker test, then you will need to have one of the more specific tests to have the confirmation. I don’t think the ultrasound will be able to tell you one way or the other.

Hun, DON’T take it to heart yet!!! My mom’s test for downs syndrome for me & my sister came out positive, and we don’t have it! Same with my cousin! Hers came out positive and her daughter is normal! I wouldn’t worry much about it until your baby has the ultrasound. Good luck hun!!! And congrats!
There is a high rate of false positives in the chromosomal screening test they do. Be sure to get the more thorough test. I don’t think a ultrasound can for sure detect any Down Syndrome, because it’s not always a physical handicap.

My sister had exactly the same results when she had her blood test
at 12 weeks the test came back positive .
Today she has a bouncing healthy baby boy.
Wait for the ultrasound results , they can see if the baby has
a thicker neck lining and they can also tell from that ..
