It really makes me angry when people find out about my visual impairment, and think think that they have to talk to the person whom I’m with – rather than talking directly to me. I’m visually impaired – I’m not stupid. If you have a physical challenge – have you had this problem, and how does it make you feel? Leave a comment. Video responses are also welcomed. If you haven’t done so – please subscribe to my channel.

@FlamingTorch9 Thanks for watching my video. I don’t get so frustrated at the people’s actions. It’s the lack of knowledge that so many seem to have. If people would better educate themselves (even those without impairments) the world could be a more productive place. Best of luck to you.
I’m visually impaired myself and have the same issue to a certain extent, i.e. it doesn’t happen all the time, but I do get annoyed by it
@Munro27v Thanks for commenting on my video. I don’t really like it when people act as though I can’t think for myself.
I have the same problem. The only help i need is to get the people i’m with to read me the menu so i can choose what i want. if not i’ll tend to ask the waiter what they have. The megnifine glass with me. but they all don’t just fit in a purce or a pouch. frowns.
@kevkraft Thanks for your question. Yes, I can see to walk around. I am not LEGALLY allowed to drive. I cannot read small print without high-powered magnification such as a CCTV electronic magnifier. I use a screen reader on the computer that is called NVDA. NVDA is a HUGE advance in computer accessibility b/c until it came along, the only screen readers available were hundreds of dollars. NVDA is free for anyone. Legally blind is what it says, a legal definition of my vision ability.
@kevkraft Thanks for watching my video. All we (the visually impaired community) want and expect from the general public is to be treated like EQUAL people.
@VideoGuyNC Hey, help me understand. Being “legally blind”< can you see AT ALL or…how is “legally blind” defined?
Having worked in human services for many years, I learned how to take into consideration just what you’re saying. You know…only help if I’m asked…don’t operate from pity but from respect…don’t assume he’s helpless just because he’s visually impaired, stuff like that.
I sure understand why you would be peeved.
@VideoGuyNC You are indeed correct.
Thanks for your comment. Some people out there don’t use enough intellegence to understand that while we may do a few things a little differently – we are capable, caring, intellegent, productive people. We don’t let our challenges slow us down and we keep fighting for the recognition we deserve as skilled individuals.
I am visually impaired and have experienced that problem all my life. I used to accept it at one time but with age have realised that I shouldn’t and need to speak up. Recently allso became a wheelchair user which makes this issue now much worse for me, and very frustrating because I do have a good brain.
Hey that is cool I also like old retro games from the 1980′s and 90′s those are the game that i grew up around even though i have an xbox 360 I will never get tired of the classics.
I do like retro type games (NES, SNES, etc). I play a LOT of emulator stuff on my PC.
I inviet you to subscribe to me if you would like t I am look for other visualy impaired individuals out there to connect with. Do you like videogames ?
Yeah – I think most people are trying to be helpful. Some just don’t know, (or don’t try to understand) that visual impairment does NOT make us physically challenged. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have had people think that I can’t read althought my raading is not fluelt but that is because I have had my visual impairment since i was an infamt. I have a cindition called nystagmus and I am blind in my right eye di to a childhood injury. My older brother has always thought of as needing constenc help with everything but that is not the case.
HI There. I am visually impaired too.and find it much easier to just create my own menu items, telling the waitress what I want.. and work from there. Eliminates too much reading, and cuts down the time. If I can gather some info on what they serve.. ie: burgers or a sandwich.. I just say, please tell me what kind of meat you have, and what kind of cheese.. and I either create my own meal telling them what I like, or they can suggest other items off the menu that kinda fit what I like. Good luck
it happends to me a lot on school campes they intend to ingnor me and talk to my visual aid it makes me mad. i can speak for myslfe and i know what i’m doing.
