Question by Magick: Do you think Seth MacFarlane went too far with the “Down’s Syndrome” joke?
Simple question, hopefully with some simple and respectful answers. Leaving Sarah Palin out of it, do you think the recent episode (Valentine’s day to be exact) of Family Guy went too far with its making fun of a Down’s Syndrome girl?

I think it was funny. Not because I’m intolerant, but many people are, so it appeals to a wide audience. I liked it…

I think that family guy is not a show for certain people. Especially people who are easily offended. in my opinion they did not got too far with it but in the past they have crossed the line. on the other hand there are people who watch the show just to look for things to be offended about and to complain to the writers. either way i think both sides are wrong.
When a show’s writers go out of their way to insult a
person’s children and an entire segment of the population
at the same time in order to make a cheap political joke,
those writers only prove themselves to be insensitive jerks.
It did not go to far.
The only thing that was over the line was dragging Sarah Palin’s son into it.
Seth MacFarlane is the executive producer, creator of the show, but he does not write most episodes. The writers may have gone too far with the joke but I don’t think so.
Chris wanted to go out with this girl, thought she was cute and although he knew she was handicapped, he still liked her. She turned out to be overbearing and a diva.
It’s like that old line “it never occurred to me that he could be a jerk in a wheel chair”*
Not every person with a disability is automatically sweet and kind which shows that they can be just like regular people in that respect.
