I thank you for this video!! As the parent of a child with Downs-and autistic catatonia, I was not as lucky to have any help, as he was born 33 years ago. The love and acceptance and films like these, give hope in raising the children with DS, to their full potential. THANK YOU! Love and blessings to you and your family

  14. DSACTTEXAS says:

@juliebork Adam is the dad of a beautiful girl who has Down syndrome, but he is not a specialist. He was featured because the documentary is aimed at healthcare professionals and he can speak to them as laymen cannot.

Not sure how I missed this video but it is fabulous. Yall should promote it more. Who is the doctor in the beginning of the video? Does he treat kids with Ds or was he featured in the video as a dad with a kid who has Ds?

  21. 105km says:

SO the reason for down syndrome is 1 to many chromosomes? The 21st, i think?

    @LickPapi
So Im not 100% certain about this:
A woman’s eggs are as old as she is, they have been there from her youth. As such, as she gets older- so do the eggs. therefore the risk increases.
For men, sperm are constantly being made, hence not as much of an increase in risk with increasing age (though there is still added risk), since his sperm are new.

    Hope that helps.
Its also not just for women over 40, rather it starts increasing almost immediately, in an exponential fashion. find a graph

  31. LickPapi says:

    Question for all of you:

Only Increased risk for women pregnant over 40 but what about men impregnating over 40?

  32. lordironrat says:

    @joslynandy yep

  36. Theshanee says:

@cartercool90 No dear, no one carry’s genes of down syndrome.

  37. John27346 says:

Yes, but is the prevalence of down syndrome more common in some races?

  38. dpurn says:

you cannot inherit down syndrome…(i.e. there isn’t a gene) simply put it is normal but additional genetic material that results in 3 copies of the 21st chromosome instead of 2. It is a random genetic event which happens during cell division

  39. MadhuMurthe says:

do you think everything wt happening with us is because of our good and bad or somthing which is not in control..

  40. cartercool90 says:

before my little bro was born the doctors said he would have down syndrome, but fortunately they were wrong. does this mean me or my parents could have the gene?

  41. computerizedcat says:

    There is no god.
it is my opinion that down syndrome children probably lack the higher brain function to hate. Still, I’d agree that a parent will never have a more loving child.

  42. kissis224 says:

    good info!

  43. falonnrobitaille says:

Btw I was talking to Joslynandy

  44. falonnrobitaille says:

they don’t reach the same milestones as normal teens though.

all the mischief of teen life is gone.

  46. LittleJoe2006 says:

no, it’s Gods way of blessing a family in ways you will never understand. How could a child who is full of kindness, love and generosity possibly be considered a punishment?

  47. joslynandy says:

So it’s gods way of punishing cugers.

  48. jeffbuckleylover says:
